Today in the cosmetic arsenal of every fashionista there is a massage brush for dry rubbing of the body. The dry massage technique comes from Ayurvedic medicine. The ancient scientist Hippocrates argued that through dry massage procedures, the flesh is built up and waste is removed from the body.
What is dry massage for?
Thanks to regular dry massage procedures, the skin becomes smoother and more uniform in color. Many women note that the effects of using a massage brush exceed all the wildest expectations. The smoothness of the skin after the massage increases significantly, acquires a healthy shine, and dries less.
In this case, the procedure for dry body rubbing promotes:
- elimination of cellulite;
- smoothing loose skin;
- more effective work of all cosmetics applied after the procedure;
- improving blood circulation, stimulating the immune system;
- relieving tension, especially when massaging the neck and shoulders;
- reducing puffiness;
- elimination of tension in the joints;
- increasing the firmness and elasticity of the skin.
Also, regular dry rubbing of the bust before a shower, eliminates the lymph deposits that form when wearing a bra. Dry massage is a kind of gentle peeling. Dead epidermis is exfoliated, the skin becomes taut, elastic and looks much better.
Varieties of massage brushes
Massage brushes are classified in the following types:
- round and oval - are highly ergonomic. Massagers of this shape fit compactly into the hand, do not have sharp corners, which avoids injury when working on the skin;
- with natural pile - in the manufacture of pile cover of such models, pig hair or natural fiber from palm, cactus or agave is used. The main advantage of these materials is the delicacy when processing the skin, which excludes scratches, irritations, allergic reactions;
- with artificial bristles - nylon is used in their manufacture. These brushes are tough. Hence, they are designed for more intense massage treatments. They are good because they accumulate less bacteria;
- toothed - the working surface of such massagers is equipped with semicircular spikes made of silicone or wood. With dry massaging, they mostly improve blood circulation, increase the tone of the muscular apparatus;
- japanese brushes - brushes with dense bristles of palm or agave fibers and an improvised handle wrapped in coarse twine;
- electric brushes - by means of a motor built into the handle of the massager, the villi vibrate. Such models are equipped with several working speeds, including a timer that regulates the duration of the procedures;
- brush - mitt... It has a rough surface with natural or synthetic fibers woven into it, providing an effective lymphatic drainage massage of the body.Don't miss the most popular column article: Laser hair removal on the face and body - how it is performed, effectiveness, before and after photos, contraindications.
Which brush to choose
High price plus quality are not always the key determining criteria.
The individual choice of a massager depends on the following factors:
- dimensions. When massaging areas of the skin of the face, small-sized products are used, and with larger ones, large surfaces of the body are massaged;
- type of bristles. Sensitive or hyperallergenic skin is treated with soft brushes with natural bristles. Stiffer models made of nylon bristles or silicone teeth are rationally used for those who are ready to sacrifice discomfort in favor of an effective fight against cellulite;
- shape and size of the handle. Models with long arms help to work out hard-to-reach areas of the body. Massagers with a fabric strap are easily fixed on the hand - it is convenient to massage individual zones with them;
- body material. Wooden models are durable, environmentally friendly. Plastic products are more fragile, but not susceptible to the negative effects of moisture or bacterial microflora.
Before purchasing a brush, you must:
- hold it in your hands to assess the weight of the accessory, ergonomics, strength of the case and handle;
- feel the bristles by testing their rigidity;
- pull on the hairs and make sure they don't fall out;
- pay attention to odor: an unpleasant odor indicates the poor quality of the raw material of the product;
- inspect the case carefully to make sure there are no cracks, burrs, sharp corners or other defects.

Rules for dry rubbing the body with a brush
With a dry massage, the brush should be carried over the body from bottom to top with long return movements. The upper movements should always go towards the heart, that is, in accordance with the flow of lymph. The massage may feel painful at first (this is a normal sensation) and the skin needs to get used to it.
The legs and arms are massaged by analogy, with sweeping, and the abdomen and joints (shoulders, knees, hips, wrists, ankles) are rubbed in a circular motion. The pressure on a part of the body depends on the thickness of the skin in that place (the décolleté or armpits are massaged softer than on the soles of the feet). No lotions or oils are used for dry massage.
It is best to dry massage with a brush before each bath, or at least 3 times a week. With the systematic carrying out of such procedures, the effect of smoothing the skin appears after 3-4 rubbing.
