Heparin ointment is intended for external treatment of diseases of the system of subcutaneous blood vessels, capillaries and skin tissues. The instructions for use indicate the medical uses of the drug for eliminating tissue inflammation, resorption of blood clots, restoration and stimulation of blood circulation.
The same properties of the ointment are effectively used in cosmetology to relieve edema on the face, eliminate darkening under the lower eyelids, small folds and wrinkles.
Composition
Heparin ointment (instructions for use later in the article) includes a complex of components of anticoagulant, resorption and analgesic action. It contains main and auxiliary ingredients.
Basic:
- sodium heparin;
- benzocaine (anesthetic);
- benzyl nicotinate;
Auxiliary:
- glycerol;
- stearic acid;
- soft paraffin;
- vegetable oil (peach);
- distilled water.
1. | Heparin sodium | inhibits the functioning of the blood coagulation system and the production of thrombin, blocks the formation and attachment of blood clots to the walls of blood vessels, has a resorbing effect on already formed blood clots. |
2. | Benzyl nicotinate | expands the blood vessels of the subcutaneous tissues, which facilitates the penetration of heparin through the walls of the veins and capillaries. |
3. | Benzocaine | has an anesthetic effect on the treated area. |
Auxiliary ingredients are included in the composition for the effectiveness of absorption of the ointment into the subcutaneous layers of the epidermis.
A product of soft consistency, white with a yellow tint and without a pungent odor. The complex of the main constituents of the drug prevents the accumulation of platelets in clots, improves blood circulation and relieves problem areas of the skin.
Efficiency
Heparin ointment acts due to the presence of a high molecular weight component - heparin, indicated in the annotation to the drug.
The use of the agent is effective in the treatment of a shallow, subcutaneous network of blood vessels, for:
- removal of inflammation of the skin tissue in the area of thrombosed vessels, postpartum mastitis and external hemorrhoids;
- resorption of blood clots and restoration of blood circulation;
- elimination of hematomas and edema after bruises, intramuscular and intravenous injections;
- treating inflamed acne and acne;
- elimination of darkening of the skin and puffiness under the eyes, smoothing the network of fine wrinkles and folds on the face.
The high molecular weight of the drug contributes to the active functioning of the components in the subcutaneous layers of the epidermis, but the large size of the molecules prevents their penetration into deep muscle tissues. Therefore, for the treatment of deep vessels, the use of ointment is not effective.
Indications for use
Heparin ointment (instructions for use are presented below) is prescribed for the treatment of:
- thrombophlebitis of the saphenous veins and disease prevention;
- varicose veins;
- phlebitis of veins and blood vessels after injections and intravenous diffusions;
- inflammation of the external and postpartum hemorrhoids;
- trophic ulcers of the calf and lower leg;
- elephant foot;
- lymphangitis;
- mastitis of the subcutaneous glands;
- subcutaneous hematomas of ligaments, muscles and joints after bruises and injuries, accompanied by swelling and bruising.
It is allowed to use the product in cosmetic medicine for the treatment of:
- inflamed acne and pimples;
- elimination of dark circles and puffiness under the eyes;

Side effects
The medication can sometimes provoke minor rashes, skin redness or itching. To exclude allergies, a small amount of ointment is applied to the wrist for 15 minutes.
Application of heparin ointment for phlebitis and thrombophlebitis
Heparin ointment, the instructions for use of which are attached to the drug, is effective in the treatment of thrombophlebitis and phlebitis. The tool relieves pain in the affected area, eliminates inflammation of the walls of the subcutaneous vessels and adjacent tissues.
Heparin destroys the fibrin fibers that form blood clots, prevents thrombin cells from forming clots and prevents blood clots from attaching to the walls of blood vessels. The drug softens the structure of the thrombus, promotes its resorption and prevents the growth of blockages in the veins.
The ointment is applied with careful, light movements, a thin layer on the diseased vessel and the adjacent skin area, in an amount of 1 g per 4-5 sq. cm 3-4 p. 5-7 days a day.
With hemorrhoids
For the treatment of external hemorrhoids and hemorrhoids that appear after childbirth, the ointment is applied to a cotton napkin, applied to the problem area and secured with a bandage. It is allowed to soak a cotton swab with ointment and place it in the anus. The duration of the procedure is 1-2 weeks.
With varicose veins
With varicose veins, the effect of the drug extends to the inflamed areas around the dilated vessels and the location of blood clots. The remedy relieves inflammation and dissolves blockages, but the ointment cannot cure the disease on its own.
When applying the drug to the inflamed focus, 4 cm of squeezed ointment is used for 4-5 sq. see skin area. The procedure is performed without massage of the affected area, with light movements, in order to avoid breaking a blood clot 2-3 r. a day for 5-10 days.
From bruises
To dissolve bruises and bruises, the ointment is smeared on the area of injury only the next day, so as not to provoke blood flow to the damaged area and the formation of a hematoma. The bruise is smeared with a thin layer of ointment 2-3 r. a day until complete resorption.
From bumps after injections
Heparin ointment promotes the rapid resorption of subcutaneous tissue seals formed as a result of a long course of intramuscular injections, or improper performance. The ointment relieves anesthesia of the thickened areas of the epidermis, eliminates vascular inflammation and restores blood circulation in damaged tissues.
The drug is smeared with massage movements on the area of the cone up to 3 r. a day for 4-8 days.
With bruises
After bruises, the resulting bruises and tumors are smeared with a product after 10-12 hours, provided there is no damage to the upper layer of the skin. When smearing the drug on the area of injury, it is necessary to exclude the ingress of the composition into the wound. Ointment 2-3 r is applied. a day for 3-10 days.
In gynecology
In gynecology, the medication is prescribed for herpes of the genital organs and endometriosis, excluding medical procedures during the menstrual period.To do this, it is necessary to soak a tampon with the composition and insert it into the vagina. The procedure is repeated 2 r. per day for 5-7 days.
The use of heparin ointment in cosmetology
The ability of heparin ointment to restore blood circulation and metabolism of the structural tissues of the epidermis, eliminate inflammation and swelling of the skin is used in cosmetic procedures.
The tool is used for:
- smoothing fine wrinkles;
- elimination of edema and dark spots around the eyes;
- treatment of acne, acne and rosacea.
The components of the preparation are quickly absorbed into the skin, normalize the water and vitamin balance of tissues, soften the walls of blood vessels and restore blood microcirculation.
From wrinkles
Acceleration of the blood supply to the epidermis activates the regeneration and cell division of elastin and collagen fibers. Nicotinic acid promotes rapid absorption of heparin and additional ingredients of the ointment through the walls of blood vessels, tissue cells receive an increased volume of oxygen, nutrients and oils, which ensure the regeneration of the epidermal layer.
Due to its high molecular structure, the ointment forms a film on the skin of the face, which must be washed off before applying a new portion of the product in order to avoid clogging the pores.
The drug is smeared on the wrinkle area 2 r. per day for 1-2 weeks, excluding contact with open wounds and mucous membranes.
For acne
Heparin ointment can be used to treat acne and inflamed acne. The drug eliminates inflamed foci and prevents new rashes, accelerates the resorption of skin seals and restores tissue structure.
The drug is applied to the inflamed areas up to 3 r. per day for washed and disinfected skin from 7 to 10 days.
From bags under the eyes
The ability of heparin to thin the blood and slow down the action of hyaluronidase (an element of the lymphatic system that binds and retains fluid in tissues) is used to remove edema of the lower eyelids. Improving blood circulation and metabolism contributes to the resorption of excess interstitial fluid.
The ointment is smeared on the area of edema 1 p. per day in a thin layer for 1-2 weeks. To quickly remove bags, it is allowed to apply a cotton pad soaked in the agent to the problem area for 1 hour.
From rosacea
Couperosis resulting from circulatory disorders of the capillary network of blood vessels can be eliminated with heparin ointment in a short time. To do this, the ointment is applied to the sites of localization of noticeable spots of couperose vessels without rubbing into the skin for independent, gradual absorption into the tissues of the epidermis.
The effect of restoring blood circulation in the vascular and capillary network is noticeable after 5 days.
Ointment is applied 3 r. per day for 1.5-2 weeks, or until the spots disappear.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding
Heparin ointment, the instructions for use of which do not provide for its use by pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, is sometimes prescribed by specialists for the treatment of thrombophlebitis, hemorrhoids and phlebitis after injections for a short time.
The medication is used exclusively externally, provided there is no damage to the surface of the skin.
The high molecular weight of heparin prevents the component molecules from penetrating the dense walls of the placenta and mammary glands to harm the fetus. In the period of 2 thirds of the gestation period, external lubrication of the areas of formation of stretch marks of the skin of the abdomen with a means is allowed to prevent the build-up of additional epidermal tissue.
With prolonged use in the last weeks of pregnancy, the drug can provoke profuse bleeding during childbirth, therefore, the period of its use should be reduced to 3-5 days, or the use of the medication should be excluded at this time.
With an exacerbation of the listed diseases, the ointment is smeared on the inflamed focus up to 3 r. per day, the treatment period is 10-15 days.
For children
Annotation to the medication does not provide for the use of the drug by children under 16 years old, but in the absence of allergies, children's doctors prescribe a remedy for children from 1 year old. To eliminate the consequences of injury, 0.5-1 g of ointment is applied to the affected area 2-3 r. a day no more than 4-6 days.
For bronchitis and pneumonia, the composition is mixed with Tizol-gel, it is smeared before bedtime on the area between the shoulder blades to facilitate the separation of sputum in the respiratory organs.

Reviews about Heparin ointment
Heparin ointment received many positive reviews from doctors, cosmetologists and users in the treatment and prevention of these diseases, fast action and low cost of the drug.
But experts insist on mandatory individual testing for the manifestation of an allergic reaction of the body to the components of the drug, compliance with the regimen and dosage of the ointment. Negative user reviews concern mainly drug allergies and the problem of eliminating such manifestations.
Heparin ointment can be called "ambulance" for various injuries at home and a sharp exacerbation of chronic diseases of the circulatory system of the superficial vessels, following the instructions in the annotation to the drug. Having a remedy in your home medicine cabinet can often help out in such situations.
